When World War II was over, I wondered what would come next.  It was almost a letdown.  But when the Korean War ended, I was back with the Yankees right away, in the midst of the pennant race.

The important things you try to put in the right place, and the unimportant things you just skip by.  When I got back from Korea, I was sitting on the bench and the Yankee players were running around yelling.  I couldn't get interested in it.  I couldn't get into it because there were other things that I thought were more important.  I was happy to be alive.  I had a tough time.

Jerry Coleman, from An American Journey.

And dig this, the ceremony at Jerry Coleman Day in San Diego where Dad's cousin was honored with a bronze statue.
